Police Officer Rescues Man From Cold Spring Harbor
Suffolk County Police rescued a man who was in the water off Cold Spring Harbor State Park, Wednesday, March 25, 2020 at approximately 8:50 a.m.
Second Precinct Police Officer Christopher Jablonski responded to a 911 call regarding a man who fell in the water off Cold Spring Harbor State Park at approximately 8:50 a.m. Upon arrival, the officer observed Erik Holm in neck-deep water.
Officer Jablonski jumped into a small boat that was on the shore and used his arms to paddle out to Holm. Holm held on to the boat and Officer Jablonski jumped into the water and utilized a rope to help pull him and the boat back to shore.
Holm, 43, of Bayville, was transported to Huntington Hospital by Cold Spring Harbor Fire Department ambulance. While in the ambulance, Second Precinct Police Officer James Garside, a member of the Suffolk County Police Medical Crisis Action Team (MedCAT), and a paramedic from the Cold Spring Harbor Fire Department provided Advanced Life Support. Officer Jablonski was evaluated at the scene.
