Councilman Cook Sponsors Resolution to Schedule a Public Forum (LIPA) and National Grid’s Settlement Offer

On Wednesday July 15, 2020 at 9 a.m., at the Soundview Boat Ramp, (across from the Northport Power Plant), on Eaton’s Neck Road in Northport, Councilman Cook held a press conference regarding a resolution he will be sponsoring at the July 21, 2020 Town Board meeting scheduled for 7 p.m..  “This resolution will schedule a public forum to allow all Town of Huntington taxpayers to weigh-in on the proposed settlement offer from LIPA and National Grid concerning the Northport Power Plant.”, stated Councilman Eugene Cook.  “This settlement will affect every taxpayer in Huntington, not just the residents of the Northport East Northport Union Free School District as the shortfall for all tax lines, including the town, county and police department will result in a tax rate hike for all property owners.  Therefore, before the Town Board votes on this settlement offer, I want to see a public forum held in an outside open venue which would allow anyone who wanted to speak either in person or by Zoom the ability to be heard.”
