Covid Update 8/12/20 With Steve Bellone, County Executive

Suffolk County reported the following information related to COVID-19 on August 12, 2020. Last updated August 11, 2020 

 

Total Persons Tested

  • 539,870 COVID-19 tests have been administered, an addition of 5,030 tests        
  • 1 percent of those tested since March have been confirmed positive for COVID-19
  • 9 percent of those tested on Long Island in the last reported 24-hour period tested positive for COVID-19
  • 1 percent of those tested in Suffolk County in the last reported 24-hour period tested positive for COVID-19

Tested Positive for COVID-19

  • 43,948 total cases
  • 55 new cases

Antibody Testing

  • 230,240 total tested for antibodies
  • 24,392 individuals not previously tested for COVID-19 have tested positive for antibodies

Fatalities

  • 0 fatalities
  • 1,998 total fatalities

Hospitalization numbers from August 11

  • 42 individuals were hospitalized, an increase of 9 in the last  24 hours
  • 6 patients were in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), an increase of 3  
  • 11 new admissions
  • 3 discharges
  • 5,664 discharged since March 22

Hospital Capacity

  • 3,033 hospital beds, 804 available, 27 percent
  • 395 ICU beds, 119 available, 30 percent
