Honoring Gary Melius’ 30th Anniversary (1984-2014)
and Otto Kahn Awards Program surpasses $100,000
Grab your roaring 20s costume and gear up for the excitement of the Friends of OHEKA Garden Party 2014, complete with fabulous food, entertainment and the grandeur of the second largest private residence in the country. The Gatsby style affair takes place in OHEKA’s formal gardens or Terrace Room from 5-8 pm rain or shine.
This year for the first time, online reservations are being accepted at www.OHEKA.com. (click on upcoming events)
Reservations are $70, $100 at the door. All proceeds support the Otto Kahn Awards Program for high school students from Huntington who are continuing their education in the performing arts, music or fine arts.
At the Garden Party, Friends of OHEKA is honoring Gary Melius on his 30th anniversary of purchasing OHEKA Castle. We are also celebrating a milestone for the Otto Kahn Awards program that began in 2003. To date, over $100,000 has been raised at the Garden Party in partnership with Gary Melius and awarded to deserving students by Friends of OHEKA, carrying on Otto Kahn’s tradition of supporting struggling artists in the early 20th century. Last year, seven talented high school students were awarded $2,500.
Friends of OHEKA , Inc. is dedicated to the protection, preservation and public awareness of OHEKA Castle, a monument to a bygone era and a testament to Huntington’s commitment to historic preservation.
