Spring Camporee

Boy Scout Troops from throughout the Matinecock District camped out at Southhaven County Park.  The Scouts tested their skills and participated in such activities as baking bread over a fire, archery, orienteering (navigating with a compass), Caber Toss, Shotgun Shooting, two-man saw, sling shot target shootings, and many other great activities.  Hauppauge’s Co-Ed Venturing Crew 872 ran many of the activities along with adult  volunteers and Matinecock District Leaders.

Participating in the event were: East Northport’s Boy Scout Troop 5; Melville’s Troop 106, Elwood’s Troop 174 and Troop 200, Dix Hills’ Troop 309 and Troop 409, Huntington’s Troop 360, Commack’s Troop 403, and Hauppauge’s Troop 3333.  Many thanks go to Venture Crew 872 of Hauppauge for running this first-time ever annual Spring Camporee.

Good time was had by all and the scouts are all looking forward to “Matinecock District’s Spring Camporee 2015.”
