Twenty Commack High School seniors received Scholarships for Academic Excellence from the NYS Higher Education Services Corporation (HESC). “These are outstanding students who have performed at a very high level on their Regents exams,” said Jonathan Macaluso, Director of Guidance. Based on criteria set by HESC, nominations for the scholarships are computed using a weighted average of the scores on Regents examinations taken prior to the students’ senior year of high school.
Awards are renewable for up to four (or five, depending on the field of study) academic years of full-time undergraduate study. Students must also attend a college in New York.
Congratulations to: Jaclyn Birnbaum, Christina Cabana, Nina Callahan, Justin Cheung, Maryann Crisci, Casey Dugan, Anthony Galietti, Jason Gurtman (absent for photo), Hugh Han, Arianna Hawk, Greta Huang, John Johnson, Carly Joos, Nicholas Joseph, Rebecca Lin, Paulette Machuca, Marissa Mathew, Julie McDonald, Daniel Shapiro, and Erika Slepian.
