Firefighters Battle Huntington Village Building Fire

Firefighters from seven departments battled an early morning commercial building fire at 328 Main Street in Huntington Village, Wednesday, May 14, 2014. The Huntington Fire Department responded to the alarm at 3:08 a.m., and upon arrival found fire coming out the windows on the second floor of the building. Nearly 100 firefighters from the Huntington, Cold Spring Harbor, Halesite, Huntington Manor, Greenlawn, Melville and Centerport FD’s responded, using twelve trucks. The blaze was brought under control within 90 minutes, under the command of Huntington Fire Chief Robert Berry, supported by Assistant Chief Jesse Cukro, and Deputy Chiefs Robert Conroy and Brian Keane. Firefighters remained on the scene dousing hot spots until about 7:15 a.m. The building housed Lemon Tree hair salon, Osaki Sushi restaurant, Susanne’s Body Yoga, JMR Architect and Serenity Counseling. The fire caused significant damage to the building’s second floor and the kitchen of the restaurant. There were no injuries reported. The fire may have started in the kitchen of the restaurant, and is under investigation by the Suffolk Police Arson Squad and Huntington Town Fire Marshal. Suffolk Fire-Rescue Coordinators were also on the scene providing assistance.
