On July 19, 2014 friends and supporters of the Whaling Museum & Education Center in Cold Spring Harbor will host a Hawaiian Luau overlooking Huntington Harbor. The event, which will be the only major fundraiser for the Museum this year, will feature an authentic Hawaiian buffet with roasted pig and a signature cocktail, live entertainment and breathtaking views of Huntington Harbor.
Honorees & Hosts, Jim & Yvette Loughlin will welcome guests to their residence in hopes of raising considerable funding for the Museum’s unique education and summer camp programs. In addition to normal programming, the Museum will offer several scholarships to summer camp and will work with local agencies to provide an educational museum experience to children that may not otherwise have the opportunity to attend camp in a Museum setting.
Also being honored at this event is Pacific Whale Foundation Executive Director, Greg Kaufman. Mr. Kaufman is world-renowned as a pioneer in whale research and an advocate in marine ecotourism (www.pacificwhale.org). His support will allow us to continue the Museum’s mission to explore the ever-changing relationship between humans and whales through inquiry-based education and interpretation of artifacts that emphasize the cultural, scientific and environmental significance of Long Island and the Sea.
The event, which will run from 7-11 pm is advance sales only. Tickets can be purchased online at www.cshwhalingmuseum.org/luau or by calling 367-3418 x10. The cost per ticket is $140 per person. For more information regarding journal ads, sponsorships or raffle donations, please call Jennifer Donatelli at 631-367-3418.
