Major construction will begin on various roads throughout the Town of Huntington. Areas effected include Park Avenue, Broadway-Greenlawn Road, Pulaski, 25A, Elwood Road, Oakwood Road and Jericho Turnpike.
The Suffolk County Department of Public Works is undertaking the project to provide continuous sidewalks on two segments of Park Avenue totaling 3 1/2 miles. The southern section will be from Broadway-Greenlawn Road to Pulaski Road. The northern section will be from the L.I.R.R. to Route 25A, East Main Street in Huntington.
There will be installation of new sidewalks, installation of new curbs, and replacement of driveway aprons where necessary. New handicap ramps with detectable warning fields will be installed. There will be new drainage structures and replacement of traffic signs.
There will also be construction on CR 10, Elwood Road, from Route 25, Jericho Turnpike, To Route 25A, Fort Salonga Road. There will be new sidewalks installed, curbs and handicapped ramps. Traffic islands will be installed at the intersection of Laurel Hill Road and Bellrose Avenue.
Countdown pedestrian signals will be installed at Cuba Hills Road, Cedar Road, Clay Pitts Road, Pulaski Road, Laurel Hill Road, and Northport High School Driveway.
The construction on CR 92 Oakwood Road will be from Craven Street to Route 110.
