Man Arrested After Robbing Huntington Station Bank

Suffolk County Police 1At approximately 1 p.m. a man entered the Roslyn Savings Bank, located at 693 East Jericho Turnpike, approached a teller, threatened the teller with a handgun and demanded money. The suspect was given cash and then fled the scene in an SUV, described as a Jeep.

Based on the broadcasted descriptions of the suspect and his vehicle, First Precinct Police Officers James Spoerel and John Farley initiated surveillance for the vehicle. The officers spotted a Jeep matching the description of the suspect’s vehicle a short time later on Rt. 110 in East Farmingdale. The officers initiated a traffic stop of the vehicle on Fulton Street in Farmingdale.

The driver of the vehicle, Thomas Bosco, was identified as the bank robbery suspect and was taken into custody.

Investigation by Pattern Crime Unit detectives revealed Bosco was also responsible for robbing the Capital One Bank in Bohemia on September 17.  Further investigation revealed Bosco is a freelance handyman who has stolen tools from clients while on job sites in Melville and Mount Sinai.

Bosco, 30, of Ronkonkoma, was charged with Robbery 1st Degree, Robbery 3rd Degree, and two counts of Grand Larceny. Bosco will be held overnight at the First Precinct, and is scheduled to be arrainged at First District Court in Central Islip on September 20.

 The investigation is continuing. Police ask anyone with information on these incidents, or who may have been robbed by Bosco, to contact Pattern Crime Unit detectives, at 631-852-6295.
