The following is a paid advertisement from Renaissance Downtowns
Over the last few months we have continued our efforts for development of our immediate opportunity sites, and finalization of our Community Benefits Agreement (CBA) that will provide much needed jobs, training and contracting to local Huntington Station and Town of Huntington residents.
As previously mentioned, Renaissance Downtowns met with over 20 stakeholder groups made up of 45+ Community Representatives, conducted 7 Source the Station meetups attended by over 300 people, and met with countless Huntington Station individuals over an 8 month period to discuss and finalize the structure of the CBA. As of late, Renaissance has met several times with a small Community Input Group of 7 representatives from the larger 45 person stakeholder group. The Community Input Group concluded that the three main components of the CBA should be (1) local jobs & contracting opportunities, (2) assistance with community center efforts and (3) funding for community-based programs focused on youth and education. Additionally, it was concluded that a Community Advisory Committee would be making recommendations to the Town of Huntington Board regarding programs to be proposed. While negotiations of the document are still taking place, we hope to have this finalized by end of October.
With regard to the immediate opportunities sites, Renaissance is working through the State Environmental Quality Review (SEQRA) process to detail the impact and benefits of the contemplated development. To see the latest concept plans, please visit www.sourcethestation.com . We expect SEQRA to be completed by the end of 2014. Pending those results Renaissance can move forward with finalizing site plans and financing for our four immediate opportunity sites. While the Columbia Terrace Veterans Condo Project should break ground in late 2014/early 2015, the four sites being studied under SEQRA will likely be ready for construction in mid 2015.
Additionally, our community outreach process is continuous and growing through Source the Station. Renaissance Downtowns and Source the Station participated in Huntington Awareness Day, Sparkboom’s Off the Walls II, and will be present at the Long Island Fall Festival the weekend of October 11th and 12th. To date, Source the Station has 1600+ members, 200 ideas, 6000+ likes and is currently working with multiple entrepreneurs in an effort to expand the retail and commercial base in Huntington Station. To learn more about these entrepreneurs and the project, we ask YOU to join at sourcethestation.com and be a part of the vision for a revitalized Huntington Station! Invite your neighbors, co-workers, family members, etc!
