H.M.F.D. Chief’s Statement on the Passing of Firefighter Ray Sipel Jr.

Huntington Manor Fire Department Chief Francis McQuade issued the following statement this morning regarding the loss of active Firefighter Raymond Sipel Jr.:raysipeljr

It is with deepest sympathy and regret that the Huntington Manor Fire Department announces the passing of active Firefighter Ray Sipel Jr. of Hose Co. No. 1.

As reported in the media, last night at approximately 10:45 p.m., Firefighter Raymond Sipel Jr., 30, was hit and killed by a taxi at 20th Street and Depot Road.

Following in his father’s footsteps, Sipel Jr., joined the Hose Co. No. 1 in February of this year. Sipel Jr. had completed his National Firefighter 1 certification and looked forward to serving his community. This is a tremendous loss to our brother Raymond Sipel Sr. (a 38-year member of the Department), his family and our department. Our hearts and prayers go out to his family in their hour of sorrow.

Wake Friday, December 26th 2-4 P.M. and 7-9 P.M. M.A. Connell Funeral Home 934 New York Avenue Huntington Station. Fire Department Service Friday night 8 P.M.
Funeral Service Saturday, December 27th, 10 A.M. Saint Peters Church 11 Ogden Court Huntington Station N.Y.
