Press Release from the Office of Assemblyman Raia

Assemblyman Andrew Raia announced today that he has been appointed to the Committee on Environmental Conservation by Assembly Minority Leader Brian Kolb. Raia expressed excitement about the appointment and his commitment to ensuring that Long Island continues to be a healthy place to live, work and raise a family.

“I’ve lived in Suffolk County my entire life and as an avid fisherman and boater on the Long Island Sound, I’ve seen the windfall of changes that have beset our beautiful landscape,” said Raia. “I want to thank Minority Leader Brian Kolb for appointing me to this committee and allowing me to have a seat at the table when it comes to talking about important environmental issues. Whether it’s addressing the increasingly dangerous high levels of MTBE in our drinking water, or protecting our beautiful beaches and bays from pollution, I promise to be an advocate and a voice in the legislature for our environment.”

Raia, who is the Deputy Minority Whip as well as the Ranking Minority Member on the Assembly’s Health Committee, will also continue to serve on the committees for Banks, Housing, Rules.
