The Dix Hills Fire Department was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident involving a car fire on Wolf Hill Road near Lisa Drive, Sunday, December 18, 2016 at around 7:45 p.m. Firefighters arrived and found an engulfed car fire that struck and split a utility pole in half. Dix Hills engine crews extinguished the fire and notified LIPA to respond for the cracked pole.
The driver of the car escaped uninjured. About 35 firefighters and rescue personnel responded with five trucks, two ambulances, paramedic and first responder units, under the direction of Chief Robert Fling and Third Assistant Chief Joe Williamson.
