“This year’s state budget was a difficult and arduous process, but upon final review, I am pleased with some of the issues that have been addressed. This year’s budget will include a 4.1 percent increase in school aid resulting in the addition of $995.4 million, $227 million more than the governor’s proposal. It also legalizes ride-sharing for the entirety of New York State and addresses the need for safe, cheap and reliable transportation for our district’s residents.
“This budget also includes a vital $30 million increase in funding to fight the heroin and opioid epidemic, bringing the total amount of funding to $200 million, $2.5 billion in funding for clean water projects, and $75 million for New York residents to install, replace or upgrade septic systems and cesspools, and promote a healthier environment. These clean water funds will ensure the water our families are consuming is as clean and safe as possible.”
