Commack Courtyard Cleanup
The Commack Middle School Student Government, along with Club Europa, teacher Thomas Stevens, and some of his students, embarked on the task of beautifying the school’s courtyard. Many middle school students expressed the desire to go outside to relax, read, or just hang out with friends in a quiet atmosphere. Teachers also expressed an interest in utilizing the courtyard as an educational setting.
A plan was set in motion to clean up the courtyard before Earth Day on April 22, and many students and members of staff worked on the project after the school day ended. The volunteers raked leaves, pulled weeds, planted flower bulbs, and spread mulch around the flower beds. The courtyard is now a beautiful, peaceful setting for students and staff to enjoy.
