Firefighters from the Dix Hills Fire Department battle a fire in a minivan on the northbound lanes of Deer Park Avenue near the South Service Road of the Long Island Expressway, Wednesday night, April 5, 2017, at about 9:50 p.m. The gas tank on the minivan ruptured, spilling gasoline onto the roadway and a nearby storm drain, and closed the northbound lanes of Deer Park Avenue.

About 25 Dix Hills firefighters and rescue personnel responded with three trucks and two ambulances and quickly had the blaze under control, led by Chief Tom Napolitano and Assistant Chiefs Joe Williamson and Brett Tepe. The occupants safely escaped from the vehicle and there were no reported injuries. New York State DEC and Huntington Harbormaster spill response were notified to respond.
