Seasons Vote Tonight at Town Board Meeting

The project at Oak Tree Dairy, “item 49” on tonight’s agenda will be voted on by the town board.Site-Plan-Web-1024x766

To date, residents of Elwood have collected approximately 5,000 signatures against this project – despite a new proposal to lower the number of units from 360 to 256. A Newsday article reported that Supervisor Frank Patrone commented during meetings with the community and the developer.

“The developer and the community groups worked very closely over the last month or two, and the latest proposal . . . is a result of the good effort put forth by both parties,” he said. “No resolution to this was going to make anyone on either side 100 percent happy. It’s something that makes us all move forward.”

The question remains: Will 5,000 resident signatures against this project make a difference in the vote tonight?

We expect that Item 49 will pass against the community’s wishes no matter what town officials say.

Below see Elwood residents protesting at Town Hall about this issue. Note that approximately 40-50 Elwood protesters were present. We counted six police cars on scene. For what? Maybe Town Hall thought all 5,000 petition signers against the project would show up.
