Assemblyman Chad Lupinacci is proud to announce his co-sponsored legislation to install carbon monoxide detectors in restaurants and commercial buildings has been signed into law by Gov. Andrew Cuomo. After the tragic event at Legal Sea Foods, when carbon monoxide poisoning injured 20 and took the life of the restaurant manager, Lupinacci worked tirelessly to pass and enact legislation to make sure similar misfortune never happens again.
“I’m pleased that the governor signed this crucial legislation into law,” said Lupinacci. “The tragedy at Legal Sea Foods was a sign that we had to do more to keep the public safe from carbon monoxide poisoning and Assembly bill 8963-A does just that by calling for the installation of detectors for this deadly gas. I would like to thank Assemblyman Englebright for his stewardship in helping to get this bill through the Assembly and ensure we can make commercial spaces safer for both employees of commercial spaces and the community-at-large.”
