Message From SHUFSD Regarding Upcoming Storm
Statement from South Huntington SD Superintendent Dave Bennardo:

As most of us are aware, the weather forecast is dominating the news. The majority of radar models have mild snow throughout the day tomorrow (Monday) with severe conditions rolling in during the early evening hours.
At this point, we hope to be able to get a traditional school day in on Monday (with probable modifications to after school activities) before dealing with Tuesday’s more challenging conditions.
An early dismissal for Monday would be called only in the rare case that conditions rapidly change and divert considerably from the forecast. As articulated last year, we recognize the variables associated with an early dismissal and will use that option only in the rarest of shifting cases.
However, it would certainly make sense for us all to review our plans and ensure that provisions are in place if an early release must be initiated. At this point however, we hope for a typical day tomorrow (Monday) and would expect to be in contact early tomorrow
night with an update on Tuesday’s situation.
Be well and keep warm as we all navigate these wonderful northeast winters.
