Local officials recently honored Reverend Stephen Donnelly at the annual Ancient Order of Hibernians of Huntington Ball. Donnelly, a longtime community member, was also appointed grand marshal of the 81st annual Huntington St. Patrick’s Day Parade, which took place Sunday, March 8.
“I cannot think of a better grand marshal for this year’s parade; Reverend Donnelly is so kind and compassionate to our entire community. He is a great role model and is always helping those who need it most; and truly serves as a beacon of inspiration for our community,” said Assemblyman Lupinacci.
Reverend Stephen Donnelly has served at the St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church in Huntington since 2010, and first considered joining the priesthood in 1991. He is a graduate of Deer Park High School and earned degrees at Farmingdale State College and St. John’s University. Donnelly also helps people struggling with drug addiction by working closely with drug awareness organizations, and even finds time to referee local basketball games.
