Officer Mark Collins Released from the Hospital

Officer Collins was released from the hospital earlier today.

Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone made the following statement on the release of Officer Mark Collins from the hospital.

“I was humbled to support Officer Mark Collins as he was released from Stony Brook University Hospital just days after he was shot in the line of duty.  I was joined by our heroes in the Suffolk County Police Department, including Officer Nicholas Guerrero, who was also treated at Stony Brook after being assaulted in the line of duty several months ago.

Officer Collins defines what it means to be a true hero. His display of courage last week was only one of the countless sacrifices he has made throughout his career. This shooting was a stark reminder of the risk and sacrifice the men and woman of our police department make each and every day to protect each of us and our communities. Please join me in thanking Officer Collins as we wish him a speedy recovery!”
