Greenlawn Crash

The Greenlawn Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle accident involving a car that struck and cracked a utility pole early Friday morning, March 20, at about 1:10 a.m., on Elwood Road near Hammond Road. Two heavy rescue trucks, two ambulances and a paramedic unit were on the scene with about 25 firefighters.  After PSEG de-energized the downed power lines, Greenlawn firefighters used heavy rescue tools to remove the driver’s side door and extricate the driver. The patient was transported to Huntington Hospital by the Greenlawn FD Rescue Squad with non-life-threatening injuries. The incident was under the command of Chief Kurt Allen with the support of Assistant Chiefs Mike Zeis, Mike Bellis and Joe Costanza.
