Huntington Community First Aid Squad (HCFAS) recently held its Installation Ceremony at the Watermill Inn, in Smithtown.

Roger Winter was sworn in as President; Alyssa Axelrod as Vice-President; Robert Franz, as Secretary and Richard Stone as Treasurer of the Board of Directors. The new Board of Directors includes members who have served in the past including David Mohr and Greg Orr. New to the Board is Loreley Villamide-Herrera.

HCFAS Officers were installed with immediate past chief, Tom Lemp re-elected as Chief; Dominic Heavey, 1st DeputyChief, James Malillo elected 2nd Deputy Chief Keith Rubenstein was re-elected as 3rd Deputy Chief and Dale Bartolomeo became the new Chief Dispatcher.

Kathleen Castillo (Company 6 Friday), Ann Donegan (Company 5 Thursday), Juan Flores (Company 3 Tuesday) and Alison Russo (Company 4 Wednesday ) were re-elected as Day Captains. Mark Cappola was elected Day Captain (Company 7 Saturday).

Elizabeth Mohr (Company 2 Monday) and Casey Orr (Company 1 Sunday) were newly elected as Day Captains.

HCFAS volunteers who were awarded length-of-service plaques for years of dedication to the volunteer ambulance corps included: Jerry Giacomini for 40 years; Robert Franz for 35 years; Ann Donegan, Phil Orlando and Annette Hershkowitz for 30 years; Cynthia Cairl and Sue Otto for 25 years

Also recognized were the 2014 Officers’ choices for Special Awards.  Basic Life Support provider of the Year went to Kelly Murphy, Advanced Life Support provider was Sheryl Burke, Probationary member of the Year was awarded to two new members, Denise Roberts and Danny Mugavero.
Mary Jane Woznick was named Dispatcher of the Year and the award for Outstanding Performance in the Field was awarded to Dominic Heavey, Kathleen Castillo, Melissa Anastos,Joe Grant, Alex Klotsche, Kristin Schuartz, Loreley Herrera-Villamide, Taha Aiman, Frank Guariglia, Tom Romano and Rich Cortes.

About Huntington Community First Aid Squad: Huntington Community First Aid Squad provides Advanced Life Support Ambulances and Emergency Medical Services to residents within the town of Huntington since 1967. All-volunteer crews are ready to go 24/7, 365 days a year, to answer the call from neighbors in need. The Huntington Community Ambulance District covers an area from Lloyd Harbor and Lloyd Neck in the North-to Melville in the South and from the Nassau/Suffolk border and Cold Spring Harbor in the West-to Greenlawn and Dix Hills in the East. Over 280 volunteer members responded to more than 5,600 calls in 2014.
