Suffolk County Police arrested a man for driving while intoxicated after he crashed his vehicle on the Long Island Expressway with his two daughters in the vehicle last evening.
Mauricio Zamora, of Ronkonkoma crashed his 2014 Honda Accord into the roadway median with his daughters, ages 9 and 11, in the vehicle at 10:24 p.m. The daughters were transported to Huntington Hospital via Dix Hills Fire and Rescue and were treated for minor injuries. Zamora was not injured.
Zamora, 40, was charged with Aggravated DWI with a Child 15 Years Old or Younger (Leandra’s Law), Driving While Intoxicated and two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
The children were released into the custody of their mother.
Zamora will be held at the Third Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip this morning.
