Opt-Out Numbers for Local School Districts

South Huntington – 28% of South Huntington School District Students Refused the ELA Test. 2716 were eligible to take the test, 1961 were tested, 755 students opted out.

Elwood – The following are the percentage of students at each each grade level who have been opted out of the NYS ELA exams:

Grade 3 – 26.8%, Grade 4 – 31.9%, Grade 5 – 18.0%, Grade 6 – 37.9%, Grade 7 – 39.6%, Grade 8 – 36.4%,

Grades 3-5 (average)=  25.5%, Grades 6-8 (average) =  38%

Harborfields – 469 Children opted-out district wide (This number was verified by the Superintendent’s office.)

Huntington – 17.19 % of students refused the test. 2083 students were eligible to take the test, 358 refused.

Cold Spring Harbor – 17.87 % of students refused the test. 884 were eligible to take the test, 158 trefused.
