Ribbons of Respect Show Support for the Men and Women in Blue With the recent death of NYPD Police Officer Brian Moore and the killing of police officers around our country, the Commack School District is encouraging community residents to show their support for those who serve and protect us on a daily basis through its “Ribbons of Respect” campaign.
School and community members are encouraged to tie blue ribbons on the trees on their property as a show of thanks and support for our police force. Local merchants (Michael’s and Jo-Ann’s in Commack) have stocked the ribbons for the community to purchase.
Sawmill Intermediate School’s Student Council spent their free time tying blue ribbons around the trees on the school’s grounds to show their support and respect for the all police officers. The students hope to show the many law enforcement officers who are living in and around the Commack area how much they are appreciated.
