The Dix Hills Fire Department responded to a crash that injured five young adults, one seriously, after the car they were riding in struck a tree on Vanderbilt Parkway near Village Hill Drive on Monday, May 25, at about 1:30 a.m. Two heavy rescue trucks and four ambulances were dispatched to the scene with 25 volunteer firefighters and emergency medical personnel, under the command of Chief Robert Fling and Third Assistant Chief Joe Williamson. The injured patients were transported by Dix Hills Rescue Squad ambulances to Good Samaritan and Southside Hospitals.
