As Flag Day approaches, Assemblyman Chad Lupinacci announced that he will be accepting weathered American flags at his district office at 630 New York Avenue, Suite D in Huntington, so the flags can be disposed of properly at a Flag Day ceremony on Saturday, June 13.
“The Huntington Elks Lodge and I will be hosting a Flag Day Ceremony at 10:00 a.m. on June 13, where we will be retiring weathered American flags in the Lorraine Martin Memorial Garden. I encourage everyone with weathered American flags to drop them off at my office so they can be disposed of properly,” said Lupinacci.
To dispose of an American flag properly, the flag should be folded in its customary manner and placed in a fire. Once the flag is placed in the fire, individuals can salute the flag or recite the Pledge of Allegiance.
