Statement from the Office of Assemblyman Lupinacci:
Assemblyman Chad Lupinacci is pleased with the recent announcement that New York State has created over 100 new correction officers jobs around the state.
“This is a win-win situation for all New Yorkers because these new jobs will provide a safer, more controlled environment in our state prisons, while adding more jobs to our communities,” said Lupinacci. “The New York State Correctional Officers and Police Benevolent Association, Inc. (NYSCOPBA) does so much to keep us safe, these new jobs will help keep them safer as well.”
The need for an increase in correction officers stems from overcrowded and violent prison populations, as well as an increase in synthetic drug use, which is known to make inmates more hostile.
“NYSCOPBA has always done an excellent job keeping our prisons and the surrounding communities safe. I’m confident that these new jobs will be very beneficial to the hardworking staff who deal with extremely violent criminals on a daily basis,” concluded Lupinacci.
