Car Crashes Into Chinese Restaurant

The Melville Fire Department responded to a crash of a sports utility vehicle into the Gourmet Wok Chinese Restaurant on Walt Whitman Road and Schwab Road, Wednesday night, June 17, at around 10:20 p.m. About 25 firefighters and rescue personnel were on the scene with two engines, two ambulances, a heavy rescue truck, fire police and first responder unit under the direction of Chief Mike McKeefrey and Assistant Chiefs Paul Mahler and Chris Nolan. The restaurant was opened at the time of the crash and there were no injuries reported. The crash damaged the front portion of the restaurant including the facade and plate glass, and the seating area inside.
