Pedestrian Seriously Injured in Motor Vehicle Crash in Huntington Station

On Wednesday, July 22, 2015, Carlos Veliz-Hernandez, 15, was walking on Jericho Turnpike, 30 feet west of Melville Road, when he attempted to cross the road and was struck by a 2008 BMW driven by Jeanne Erra, of Huntington Station, at 9:15 p.m.

Veliz-Hernandez, of Huntington Station, was transported via Suffolk County Police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital where he is listed in serious condition. Erra, 56, was not injured in the crash.

The vehicle was impounded for safety checks and the investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information about this crash to contact the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
