The Melville Fire Department responded to an accident at the Gulf Gas Station on Walt Whitman Road, Thursday, July 30 at around 11:10 a.m. A car was knocked off an overhead lift in the service bay when another car parked outside the garage lunged forward after a worker was closing the car’s windows as it started to rain.
The impact knocked the Ford sedan off the lift and partially crushed the Nissan below. The worker suffered facial injuries from broken glass and was transported to Huntington Hospital by the Melville Rescue Squad.
About 20 firefighters and rescue personnel were on the scene with three trucks, an ambulance, paramedic responder and fire police, under the direction of Second Assistant Chief Paul Mahler.
