Gellerman Orthodontics invites families and local businesses to sign up for the fourth annual Kiss Cancer Good-Bye walk on Saturday, September 12 at Heckscher Park in Huntington, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Kiss Cancer Good-Bye will feature several group walks around Heckscher Pond, activities for kids with a focus on healthy living and performances from area dance schools. Kiss Cancer Good-Bye benefits Kids Need MoRE, which began as a sleep away camp for pediatric cancer patients and today offers year-long programs to help children and families coping with life-threatening illnesses. All information and forms for registration and sponsorships are available at www.drgellerman.com/walk.
“We are excited about bringing Kiss Cancer Good-Bye back to Heckscher Park for the fourth time, so that Huntington area residents, including families with young children, can get involved with a very local event,” explained Dr. Inna Gellerman, Gellerman Orthodontics. “By partnering with the MoRE, we are raising awareness and funds to support children whose lives have been impacted by cancer.”
Local businesses and families are encouraged to become involved, with sponsorships at all levels, from T-shirt sponsors to trail signs, sponsor tables and educational activities. Performances and activities include a warm up from the Huntington YMCA, dance performances from the Lynch School of Ballet, and games for kids. The Heckscher Museum is pleased to support Kids Need MoRE by offering participants of the Kiss Cancer Good-Bye Walk free admission on Saturday, September 12. A Memory Line will give participants a chance to pay tribute to cancer survivors or honor the memory of loved ones.
Volunteers are needed to help out on the day of the event, and students who need Community Service Credits are encouraged to contact the office at 631-427-8444 to learn how they can help.
