The Alfred Van Loen Gallery is pleased to announce a solo exhibition of paintings by RJT Haynes. A native from England, Haynes divides his time between New York and England. Haynes a representational painter that works in mediums from pen & ink, pastel, oil, acrylic and watercolor and is also inspired by varying subjects from animals and people portraits to plein-air landscapes.
Having his studio in a cottage in the rural Cornwall countryside Haynes is exposed to a life where cows and sheep roam, giving him a familiar and special relationship with his muses. Draftsmanship is an important element in his paintings however he also captures the unique spirit and persona of his subjects. These expressive and sensitive paintings offer us a closer glimpse to a peaceful poetic social interaction. His styles may vary but they are all emotionally charged and technically rendered. RJT Haynes is a passionate artist.
Haynes studied philosophy and German at Oxford University. He was the youngest of three, his mother and father both encouraged the arts. His father a sign painter and perhaps a bit of a “frustrated artist”, Haynes grew up surrounded by the smell of paint and turpentine. “It was probably inevitable that I would end up a painter” said Haynes. Since coming to New York in 2011 Haynes has been in many group exhibits such as The Water Mill Museum, Ashawagh Hall, Guild Hall, The Kathryn Markel gallery, and the Southampton Cultural Center. He has also won an award at the East End Arts Council as well as awards in Cornwall.
