The Townwide Fund of Huntington presented a check for $20,000 to the Dolan Family Health Center at the Center’s 20th Anniversary Celebration on October 16. The Townwide Fund has been a supporter of the Dolan Center since it first opened its doors.

“We work all year long to raise funds, and because of the generosity of our neighbors, members of the business TWFlogo_rgb_screen3community and our hardworking all-volunteer board, the Townwide Fund is thrilled to present this sizable donation to the Dolan Center on this, its 20th anniversary celebration,” said,” said Jim Powers, President of the Townwide Fund.

This grant is one of many that will be given out in the next few weeks. The Townwide Fund will be giving out grants in excess of $162,000 to 29 charities who provide Huntington residents with vital health and human services.

By hosting a variety of fundraising efforts throughout the year, The Townwide Fund of Huntington, Inc. is able to bridge the gap between dwindling government support and a growing need for services in the community. One of the best known Townwide Fund events, The Annual Charity Thanksgiving Day Run, is just around the corner and is a major source of funding for these grants. Entry fees, online donations and sponsorships are the main source of funding grants like this one. Through the efforts of volunteers and the charities support, the Townwide Fund seeks to elevate the quantity and quality of services available to the residents of Huntington.

Twenty nine (29) charities will receive grant money this year. Those being supported by the Townwide Fund include the Tri-CYA, Family Service League, General Needs, Gurwin Jewish Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Huntington Breast Cancer Coalition, Island Harvest, Huntington YMCA, North Shore Holiday House, The Junior Welfare of Huntington, Inc., Long Island Cares-The Harry Chapin Food Bank, Meals On Wheels of Huntington, St. Johnland Nursing Center and the Visiting Nurse Service & Hospice of Suffolk.
