This year, many families are having a hard time making ends meet and need some help. Kindergarten classes at Rolling Hills Primary School in Commack celebrated Thanksgiving by giving back to the community. The children made “Happy Thanksgiving Meal” bags. These bags are being donated to L.I. Cares- The Harry Chapin Food Bank in Hauppauge. They will be given to families in need.
The children decorated lunch bags with Thanksgiving pictures and filled each bag with a microwaveable Mac-n-Cheese (hard to find turkey dinners in a bag!), a drink, a snack, a small toy, and of course good wishes. In addition, each child designed a laminated Thanksgiving themed place-mat to go along with the “Happy Meal.”
