It came to our attention by many Huntingtonians that a Social Media Group, had a thread regarding being Police, Huntington NY,stopped and retained by ICE and or the police in Huntington Station last night Saturday January 2, 2016. As we do many times we asked the police for confirmation of such.  TheHuntingtonian received a call from acting Assistant Deputy Police Commissioner Sini, to review the issue. The acting Assistant Deputy Police Commissioner Sini, issued the following statement.

The Suffolk County Police Department did not conduct checkpoints in either Brentwood or Huntington Station in the last few days, nor did it participate in any joint operation with federal Immigration authorities during that time. I have instructed the Commanding Officers of the Second and Third Precincts to reach out to community leaders in the relevant areas to address the communities’ concerns immediately. As always, it is important to emphasize that we value our relationship with the Latino community, and that the Suffolk County Police Department is here to protect and serve all of its communities. If anyone has any information of police misconduct, I encourage them to call our Internal Affairs Bureau at (631) 852-6265.

Tim Sini assured theHuntingtonian that the police are moving forward looking for ways to help our community in such trying times here in the Huntington Township.
