Serious Motorcycle Accident in Greenlawn

Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash which seriously injured a motorcyclist in Greenlawn at approximately 4:08pm Friday January 8, 2016.

Merwyn Kaplan was driving a 2014 Nissan westbound on Pulaski Road when he made a left turn onto Duncan Elder Drive, and collided with a 2003 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by Joseph Algerio.

Algerio, 65, of Northport was transported via Suffolk County Police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital where he is being treated for serious but non-life threatening leg injuries. Kaplan, 75, of Greenlawn stayed at the scene and was not injured.
