TOWNSHIP THEATRE GROUP: GOING PLACES
Sunday, April 3 at 2pm

The TOWNSHIP THEATRE GROUP’S TOURING COMPANY will perform an entertaining collection of short plays about interrupted journeys and the ways in coldspringlibwhich the people involved are affected.

Traffic Jam by Bonnie Corso: Isolated in their car by a massive traffic jam, a married couple is forced to confront the issues that are clouding their marriage.

Love Is a Four Letter Word by Arnold Kane Love: blooms during a chance meeting in an airport and then the delayed flight finally arrives.

The New World Ain’t Cheap by David Vazdauskas: Columbus can’t start his famous journey until he persuades Ferdinand to open the royal purse strings.

Stations in Life by Linda Prussen: Four strangers on a stalled subway train become surprisingly involved in each other’s lives.

This performance is free and open to the general public.

Beginner Watercolor
Six Thursdays, Six Thursdays, March 31, April 14, 21, May 5, 12, and June 2, 10am to 12pm
(No classes on April 5, April 28, May 19, or May 26)

Learn how to paint with watercolors with local artist Anne B. Gunthner.  Techniques covered will include creating textures and washes, wet-on-wet painting, dry-brush glazing, basic composition, color theory, and much more.  Students may choose to paint a still life or landscape, using a photograph as a model. Check with Information Services for the list of supplies. Further information will be discussed during the first class.

Minimum of 5 students; maximum of 12.

Register with your check for $100 made payable to the Cold Spring Harbor Library.

 


Intermediate Watercolor
Six Tuesdays,
March 29, April 12, 19, May 3, 10, and 24, from 10am to 12pm
(No classes on April 5, April 26, and May 17)

Take your painting to the next level with local artist Anne B Gunthner. Students will work on their own individual pieces as well as working together to discover additional new techniques in watercolor. Still life and landscapes will be included. (Emphasis on color theory, perspective, and using own photo references to paint from). Some prior experience with watercolor is necessary. Check with Information Services for the list of supplies. Minimum of 5 students; maximum of 12.

A Writer’s Workshop with Debby Peoples
Mondays, April 4 through June 13,
from 1-3pm (No class on May 30.)
Writer, author, and publisher Debra Peoples will this series of Ten two-hour classes for those new to writing as well as experienced writers looking to advance their skills. Advance registration must be accompanied by a check for $100 payable to the Cold Spring Harbor Library.

 


Introduction to Computers for Home Use I & II
Wednesdays, April 6 and April 13, 2-4pm

Learn how to write a letter, create a newsletter and make a flyer or sign.  Learn how to edit and format text, lay out a letter, work with graphics and much more.  Prerequisites: Computer Kindergarten/Introduction to Computers 1, Computer 1st Grade/Introduction to Computers 2 or equivalent. Free and open to all. Limited to 24 attendees. Advance registration required.

 


SIGNATURE EVENT: Peter Berley Cooking Demonstration
Thursday, April 7, at 7pm
Chef Peter Berley will demonstrate how to prepare Apostle’s Fingers, homemade buttermilk ricotta-filled crepes with lemon syrup. Cookbook sale and signing follows. Limited to 50 attendees. Advance registration required.

 


Preventing Elder Fraud
Tuesday, April 12 at 1pm
A SeniorNet guide will discuss how to protect yourself from scams targeted to older adults. Free and open to all. Advance registration requested.


Mindfulness-Based Meditation
Thursday, April 14, at 2pm

Dr. Joseph Diamond, a Northwell Health physician, will discuss the how to’s and benefits of mindfullness. Free and open to all. Advance registration requested.

 


SIGNATURE EVENT: Concert by Canta Libre
Sunday, April 17 at 2pm

Come be transported by another spectacular performance by this flute/string ensemble. Free and open to all. Advance registration requested.

 


AARP Smart Driver Defensive Driving
Monday April 18, from 10am to 5pm
The AARP Defensive Driving Course is geared to adults over 50 years of age. You do not need to be a library member to participate. Students must register in person at the Information Services Desk, with a check made payable to ‘AARP,’ one week prior to class date. Fee: $20.00 (AARP members), or $25.00 (non-AARP members)

Remember to bring your NYS driver license and a bag lunch to the program.

 


Sweet and Savory Crepes with Lucy Van Horn
Thursday, April 21 at 6:30pm

Lucy Van Horn returns with another cooking demonstration and tastingLearn how to create delicious desserts and small meals with the versatile crepe!. Limited to twenty attendees. Fee: $5 per person, payable by cash or check paid to the Cold Spring Harbor Library
