Assemblyman Chad A. Lupinacci recently recognized newly-minted Eagle Scout Mikal Eric Oltedal. Lupinacci presented Oltedal, a recent graduate of Walt Whitman High School, with a New York State Citation and an official New York State Assembly pin.
Oltedal, a member of the South Huntington-based Troop 408, received the eagle rank during a
Court of Honor held at Walt Whitman High School on March 12. For his Eagle project, Oltedal planned and completed the construction of wooden carnival games for Camp Bright Star, Huntington’s summer camp for children with special needs.
Since earning his diploma at Whitman, Mikal has attended Suffolk County Community College and worked part-time as a classroom aide with special education students.
“Throughout his young life, Mikal has dedicated himself to giving back to his community at every level,” Lupinacci said. “His continued work with special needs children proves he deserves the rank of an Eagle Scout. It was an honor to meet this fine young man, and I wish him the best in all of his future endeavors.”
