The Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Subcommittee of the Community Mental Hygiene Advisory Board is made up of consumers, parents, advocates, professionals and agency provider who consider developmental disabilities issues and advise the Director of Community Mental Hygiene Services as necessary through the advisory board. The Peconic Estuary Program Management Committee

The Peconic Estuary is part of the National Estuary Program (NEP), which aims to protect and preserve nationally significant estuaries that are threatened by pollution, development, or overuse. The Peconic Estuary was named an “estuary of national significance” in 1992. The Peconic Estuary Program is sponsored by the United States Environmental Protection Agency, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, and the Suffolk County Department of Health Services (SCDHS). SCDHS operates the program office and provides the day-to-day management functions and the technical and administrative support to the program.

The Board of Health Public Hearing

Suffolk County Department of Health Services’ Administration Building, 3500 Sunrise Highway, Building 200, Great River, NY 11739-9006

The Suffolk County Board of Health will hold a public hearing to listen to comments from the community concerning the addition to the Suffolk County Sanitary Code of an Article 19, “Management of Innovative and Alternative Onsite Wastewater Treatment Systems.”

 

The proposed changes can be found online at http://www.suffolkcountyny.gov/Departments/HealthServices/BoardofHealth.aspx .

 

The Board of Health, at the request of the commissioner of health services, considers matters relating to the preservation and improvement of public health. In the event that a quorum cannot be achieved, the meeting will be cancelled. Members of the public who plan to attend are advised to call 631-854-0100, the day of the meeting, to find out if the meeting will take place.

Environmental Quality Board of Review

The Board of Review hears requests for variances and waivers to the county’s requirements for water and sewage disposal for new construction, and for storage of toxic or hazardous materials, as stated in the Suffolk County Sanitary Code. A listing of each month’s scheduled hearings may be obtained in the days prior to the hearing by contacting the Department of Health Services’ Division of Environmental Quality at 852-5800.
