On May 23, 2106 12 student-athletes from Elwood-John H. Glenn High School in the Elwood Union Free School District signed letters of intent to continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level. To celebrate their accomplishments, parents, coaches and district administrators gathered to honor the students’ dedication and commitment to their sport and to continuing their academic careers.

In his address to the student-athletes, David Shanahan, director of athletics and physical education, afforded words of wisdom and encouragement. He advised the students to make the most of the college experience and to stick with it until graduation, build relationships and network and use the morals and values instilled by their parents and the educational system to make good decisions. As each student was called to the front, their coach shared examples of the student’s accomplishments and hard work on the field or court.

The district congratulates the following students on their academic and athletic accomplishments: Hunter Allen, SUNY Plattsburgh, soccer; Walter Casey, Hartwick College, football; Grace Cregol, SUNY Geneseo, volleyball; Jake Dougal, College of Mount Saint Vincent, wrestling; Timmy Greschner, SUNY Geneseo, basketball; Alexis Groark, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, basketball; Helen Pham, Molloy College, track; Domenica Piccoli, SUNY Geneseo, soccer; Edwin Rubio, University of Virginia, wrestling; Victoria Shanerman, Washington College, lacrosse; Alexis Stickelman, Wentworth Institute of Technology, soccer; and Sean Wieck, Roger Williams University, wrestling.
