The Suffolk County Parks Department are pleased to announce that county beaches, campgrounds, golf courses and parks are open this holiday weekend. With temperatures expected to reach the 80s, parks personnel is prepared for high visitor attendance.
Lifeguards will be on duty from 10:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., and the Beach Hut’s Concessions are open at Smith Point and Cupsogue Beach County Parks. Meschutt Beach will be open, with no lifeguards on duty. Visitors looking to spend the day at the beach are encouraged to arrive early.
Outer beach access is available for day trips at Smith Point, Cupsogue, Shinneock East and Montauk County Parks. However, access is limited due to piping plover nesting and erosion. The Suffolk County Parks Department will provide real-time capacity notifications to the public through facebook at facebook.com/suffolkcountyparks and twitter at twitter.com/scparks.
“The Parks Department will make every effort to keep beach access open for visitors throughout the holiday weekend,” said Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone. “By providing immediate access to information on park capacity through social media, residents can make informed decisions for their park outing.”
