Finley Jr. High School students assembled approximately 250 care packages for distribution to homeless and financially compromised veterans. The supplies were collected by General Needs and The Townwide Fund of Huntington was proud to serve as an organizer and coordinator alongside the Finley Community Club.
Donations of travel-size personal care items were made to General Needs, a non-profit based in Northport that provides basic necessities like clothing, toiletries, and bedding to homeless US Veterans through charitable donations and support. General Needs is also the recipient of a Goldstein grant from the TWF this past winter, which provided winter coats, new sneakers and personal care items to vets.
In an effort to build community support and awareness, TWF introduced General Needs to the Community Club at Finley, who organized and packaged items such as toothpaste and toothbrushes, shampoo and conditioner and other personal care items to provide care packages for distribution just in time for Memorial Day.
