Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that seriously injured a pedestrian in Huntington Station last night July 13, 2016.
A 20-year-old male was walking northbound across Jericho Turnpike at the intersection of Oakwood Road when he was struck by a 2007 Lexus that was traveling eastbound on Jericho Turnpike last night at approximately 9 p.m.
The Huntington Community First Aid Squad (HCFAS) responded to this call on West Jericho Turnpike and Oakwood Road for a male pedestrian struck by a car. Upon arrival at the scene it was determined by the paramedic on board that the victim suffered serious multiple injuries. He was treated with advanced life support measures and transported to Huntington Hospital. Later the Pedestrian was transferred to North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset with serious head injuries. The name of the pedestrian is being withheld pending notification of the family.
HCFAS was called back to the scene about 1/2 hour later for a trauma patient. That victim, the driver of the Lexus, Gerard Marrone, 42, of Huntington Station. He suffered injuries from shattered glass on his hands. He too was transported to Huntington Hospital.
The vehicle was impounded for safety checks and the investigation is continuing. Anyone with information on the crash is asked to contact the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
