Huntington Community First Aid Squad Recognizes Record Setting Accomplishment

At a recent General Membership Meeting of the Huntington Community First Aid Squad (HCFAS), the Board of Directors and members recognized Company Two, Day Captain Elizabeth Mohr and her Monday crews for a record setting accomplishment. For the period beginning July 27, 2015 to July 25, 2016, 921 calls for Emergency Medical assistance were received on Mondays.  The personnel on duty answered every call without the need for assistance from surrounding EMS agencies, HCFAS, as the second busiest EMS agency in Suffolk County, answered over 6000 calls last year. There are times, due to multiple calls received at the same time or due to a shortage of vehicles, the Squad is not able to respond and a call for assistance known as a signal 24 is dispatched by the County 911 system to a neighboring department. For the first time a particular day has answered each and every call dispatched for a span of a year.

Captain Mohr, the daughter of two long time active members has grown up in the EMS community.  She started her membership at an early age when she served as President of Explorer Post 215, sponsored by HCFAS. She became an EMT, a   Crewleader and a Driver.  Since becoming an Officer she has shown her leadership   skills in leading her day to this unprecedented achievement.
