Keeping with the 21st century learning environment, sixth-graders at Elwood Middle School in the Elwood Union Free School District received their individual Chromebooks during orientation on Aug. 30, 2016.

The sixth-grade students will use the computers to access assignments, collaborate with their peers on projects and download and upload their schoolwork. Teachers will also have the ability to interact with students digitally, commenting on assignments and providing guidance with studies.

The 2016-17 school year represents the third straight year of the Chromebook initiative at Elwood Middle School and all students in grades six through eight are now equipped with a device. The initiative will be expanded to Elwood-John H. Glenn High School for the 2017-18 school year. To prepare for the expansion, high school teachers will be provided with a Chromebook this year to familiarize themselves with the technology and the associated programs to help enrich student learning.
