The Dix Hills Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle accident on the Northern State Parkway near the Deer Park Avenue exit on Thursday night, September 15, at about 9:35 p.m. Two vehicles crashed into the woods from the westbound lanes, trapping one of the drivers. Dix Hills firefighters used the “Jaws of Life” heavy rescue tools to cut the door from the car and remove the patient. Both drivers were transported to Huntington Hospital by the Dix Hills Rescue Squad. Over 25 Dix Hills firefighters and emergency medical volunteers were dispatched with two heavy rescue trucks, two ambulances, paramedic and first responder units, under the direction of Assistant Chiefs Tom Napolitano and Joe Williamson.
