Melville’s firefighters and rescue volunteers will be giving live demonstrations and showing your family how to stay safe in the event of a fire or emergency. Experience the Fire Safety House and learn about fire prevention and home safety. Watch your firefighters demonstrate the “Jaws of Life” tools used to rescue people from car accidents, and extinguish an actual car fire. The Melville Rescue Squad will show their lifesaving emergency medical skills and offer free blood pressure screenings. There are free raffles and prizes, snacks and drinks, and an inflatable bounce house for the kids. Come tour the firehouse and see the fire trucks and ambulances. Recruitment information will be available for those interested in becoming volunteer firefighters, emergency medical technicians or junior explorers. Bring the entire family for an informative and fun-filled day! “We look forward to meeting our neighbors and providing them with an educational and enjoyable experience,” said Chief Jason Bernfeld.
